It is natural for all of us to want to avoid striking animals on the roadways.  But when traveling on a high speed roadway, such as an interstate, it is crucial to not slow or stop for animals unless you are certain that it is safe to do so.  Other motorists may not recognize that your vehicle is slowed or stopped.

A Bond County, Illinois car accident on Interstate 70 killed three people in one car this past Friday – two young girls and their mother.  As she neared her home in Mulberry Grove, Illinois, the mother and driver slowed her car on Interstate 70 to allow a deer to cross the roadway.  She then saw another deer start to cross the road and therefore, stopped her car to allow it to cross.  As the vehicle was stopped, a truck crashed into the back of the vehicle instantly killing the mother and her two young daughters.
