How to Hire the Best Accident Injury Lawyer

1093389_balance_3.jpgAuto accidents occur everyday in St. Louis, Missouri and surrounding areas such as St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles, St. Peters, Cape Girardeau, Joplin, Springfield, Independence, Kirkwood, Des Peres, Chesterfield, Jefferson County, Boone County. Just today, I read about several Missouri car crashes. Most of these accidents happened as a result of the dangerous weather we just had. I also read about a 5 year old boy who was injured in a 4-wheeler accident. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the 4-wheeler was not struck by a car but instead the driver simply ran off the road and hit a fence. The young boy was actually being towed behind the 4-wheeler so when it struck the fence, the boy was thrown into the 4-wheeler. News-Leader, January 12, 2011.
Injury causing accidents happen frequently all over Missouri and Illinois. And let’s face it – there are a lot of lawyers out there. It’s important to do your research and hire the best injury lawyer for YOU. To do that, you need to sit down and determine what attributes are most important to you. I have heard some people say that they want an older attorney because they think that attorney will be more experienced. That simply isn’t always true. Many young lawyers have received incredible training focused on new nuances of the law in a way that actually better prepares them for the courtroom battles. Some people want a lawyer who is willing to take every case to a jury while other injured individuals would rather have an attorney who focuses on quick settlements. These issues are all a matter of preference.
However, I will suggest to you that there are two qualities that you should always look for: an attorney who puts you as a top priority. Some attorneys focus all of their time on the bigger cases. If your case is a smaller one, you want to be sure that you have someone in your corner that will fight to the end for your small case. The second important quality is exclusivity. You want an attorney who only handles injury cases. Think about it – if you needed brain surgery, would you go to a doctor who treats people for foot problems, psychological problems, high blood pressure, wound care etc.? No, you would go see a brain surgeon because that’s all she does, day in and day out. Do your homework and talk to as many people as necessary to find a lawyer that is right for you.
