7 Month Old Infant Dies in Car Accident

On June 7, 2010, in Auto Accident, Personal Injury, by K. Lindsay Rakers

KMOV has reported that the car that plunged into River Des Peres last week contained a 7 month-old infant boy. His father, 24 years old, drove the car into the river – the circumstances of the crash are still unknown. The driver is still in critical condition. The infant boy was found strapped in his carseat in the water but efforts to revive the boy were unsuccessful.

We don’t yet know if there was something on the roadway that caused the driver to direct the vehicle into the water. As a St. Louis accident attorney, I have seen cases where a “phantom” motorist causes a crash and then quickly leaves the scene. I have also seen road conditions – sharp curve or lack of guardrail that can cause a crash. Of course, the police investigators and officials will look into these things as well as checking the car for defects and will likely also perform a toxicology report upon the driver of the vehicle.

Fatal automobile accidents are absolutely tragic. When the life lost is that of such a young child, the pain is unbearable. We handle fatal automobile accidents every single day.
