All Lawyers are Not Created Equal

1200502_person_decision.jpgJust take one look in the phonebook or on Google and it is easy to see that there are many attorneys out there looking to help you with your injury case. Whether you have been in a car accident, truck accident, a fall on a property, or injured by a dangerous drug, you certainly have a vast variety of Missouri injury lawyers to choose from. Before you randomly select one of these attorneys, however, you should do your research so you can make an informed decision. Would you go to a car lot and buy a car without asking questions – without taking a test drive? Your injury case is important. It may be the only injury case you ever have. It may be your only opportunity to recover from your harms and losses suffered as a result of someone else’s negligence. Therefore, it is crucial to do your research before you make your selection.
Some attorneys focus their practice on settling cases v. trying cases. Some attorneys put their clients in contact with their secretaries only while others have direct contact with their clients. Some lawyers try to take as many cases as they can while others are selective in the cases they are willing to take on. You need to find out if the injury attorney has handled your type of case before and if so, what was the result? It doesn’t make sense to hire an estates attorney to handle your Missouri auto accident claim. If you have been injured, you need to ask yourself what kind of lawyer you want – everyone has a different answer to this question. Contact several attorneys and ask them questions. Most attorneys provide free consultations and would be happy to address concerns that you have about the legal process. Ask around in the community. It is likely that someone has dealt with a lawyer before and may have a good recommendation for you.
