Missouri Automobile Accidents Claim the Lives of Three

An 8 year-old boy was killed in a Franklin County car accident on Monday, October 18th, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The young child, Tyler Freihaut of Lonedell, died at the scene of the Missouri car crash as a result of his serious injuries. The accident took place on Missouri Route FF, South of Old Mount Hope Road, just before noon. Tyler’s mother was driving on the right side of the road and for some reason, drifted to the left. She then overcorrected and caused the car to flip. The young boy was ejected from the car following impact. There were three other young children in the vehicle but they were not injured in the crash. The reports indicate the three uninjured children were buckled in their seats. The mother was arrested for drunk driving at the scene.
In a separate accident, two adult men were killed in a Bourbon County, Missouri automobile accident. Derek Lane Kirkham and Jason Gardner were found dead in 2005 Infinity on October 17th. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Infinity was found upside down in a creek off of Indian Road. An initial investigation revealed that Kirkham was heading eastbound on Indian Road when the vehicle went off the north side of the roadway. The car then struck a concrete bridge, flipped, and came to rest in the creek. Neither man was wearing a seatbelt.
As a St. Louis car crash attorney, I see healthy people injured in Missouri car accidents everyday. There are always different causes of an accident. It is very common for driver inattention to be at least one of the causes. It is important to know your rights after an accident. I always advise people to seek the assistance of counsel before you talk to anyone – especially an insurance adjuster.
